A 35-year-old farmer was admitted to the isolation ward of the Government District Hospital here on Tuesday with suspected bird flu symptoms. The farmer identified as Prasad hails from Yadamarri mandal of Chittoor district. Hospital sources said the farmer came to the hospital as an outpatient with high fever, cough and irritated eyes. He was later transferred to the isolation ward. The samples were collected and sent for advanced tests to confirm whether it was bird flu or not, the sources added. However, the doctor said there was no need to panic. With the onset of the summer season, the prevalence of the virus among birds would naturally decrease and the chances of getting the virus from a bird to a human are very small, the doctor added.
