The Dharwad district police arrested the fraudster duo from Hyderabad and handed them over to the Hyderabad police. The pair are wanted in ₹23 crore fraud cases in Hyderabad.
The duo, identified as Satish Vuppalpati and Shilpa Banda, were intercepted and arrested by the Dharwad Rural Police while they were passing through the Hubballi bypass of Dharwad.
According to the police, the duo is wanted in a fraud case registered at the Hyderabad Central Crime Station. Accused Satish escaped from custody on November 20 when they stopped for food at Sadashivpet and fled in a car. Subsequently, the Hyderabad police launched a search for him.
After receiving a tip-off about the accused passenger traveling through the Hubbali Dharwad bypass, the police set up checkposts at various points on the highway and finally managed to nab the duo, the report said.
