Amid growing speculation that senior Congress leader and former minister T. Jeevan Reddy may soon quit the grand old party, his loyalists reportedly removed the Congress party flexi on the premises of his house, named as ‘Indira Bhavan’ in Jagtial town on Monday evening.
Mr. Jeevan Reddy sulks at what he termed undue importance given to new entrants to the party at the expense of loyal party cadres in Jagtial district. He openly expressed his dismay at the allocation of the “lion’s share” of seats in the recent municipal elections in Jagtial to new entrants, apparently sharpening his attack on followers of Dr. M. Sanjay Kumar in Jagtial MLA.
Political observers believe that Mr. Sanjay Kumar’s presence on the dais at a public meeting addressed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in Choppadandi last month, despite his claim to continue with the BRS, has irked Mr. Jeevan Reddy’s supporters. The rift between the two “rival groups” widened with speculation about Mr Reddy’s move to sever his more than four-decade association with the Congress party. There is talk in political circles that Mr. Reddy is likely to join the BRS. However, the senior leader is yet to make a final announcement about his next political move. Some key functionaries of the ruling Congress party tried to pacify Mr. Reddy but in vain, sources said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jeevan Reddy attended a rally with the maize farmers from his residence to the Collectorate on Monday (March 16, 2026). A delegation of farmers led by Mr. Reddy submitted a memorandum to the district authorities during the Prajavani program demanding the establishment of maize procurement centers and their immediate commissioning from the following Ugadi festival.
