All India Majlis-E-Ithadul Muslimeen (Aimim) President and MP Hyderabad Assaduddin Owaisi filed a formal complaint with Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police after a deep false video-portrayed him as a promotion of a fraudulent investment system-online.
In shots with a doctor, Mr. Owaisi was forced to look as if he were talking in English, and supported an online platform that allegedly offered a daily income of 53,000 GBP.
In his complaint, Mr. Owaisi said that the video was intentionally created and sent to the public error and abuse of his identity for fraudulent profit. He warned that such a content not only threatens individuals by supporting fraud, but also causing damage to reputations to those who set out.
The deputy called for a quick action and urged the police to ensure that the video was reduced on all social media platforms, monitors his resource and publishes public counseling to prevent others from falling for similar fraud.
After his complaint, the case was registered at the Police Station for Cyber Crime according to the relevant IT law sections, including 66C (identity theft), 66D (cheating personalities) and 66E (privacy violations). The fees were also caused under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit (BNS) for personality, counterfeiting and defamation.
