Health Minister Veena George said the government has successfully decentralized healthcare delivery through primary and family health centers, ensuring people-friendly and patient-oriented treatment across the state. She inaugurated Janakiya Arogya Kendra in Narath panchayat on Monday.
The minister said the family health centers reflect the government’s commitment to providing treatment at the local level. “The government spends over ₹1,500 crore annually on free treatment. About 42.5 million families are eligible for treatment assistance of up to ₹5 crore annually,” she added.
Ms George said efforts were being made to extend health care coverage to those outside existing systems. Under the decentralized model, primary health centers and family health centers provide basic care, taluk hospitals offer specialty treatment, and district hospitals provide super-specialty services.
