
A crude bomb allegedly hidden at a house construction site exploded in Central Poyiloor on Friday morning, injuring a tipper truck driver who was engaged in clearing soil.
The explosion occurred during the clearing of soil using an earthmoving machine for the reconstruction of the house. Police said unknown persons were suspected of keeping an improvised explosive device at the site. The explosion caused splinters to hit the driver who had come to collect the excavated soil.
The driver, identified as Sumith Lal, was admitted to the Thalassery Cooperative Hospital. His condition is said to be stable.
