Four Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel posted at the Sewa-II hydroelectric project unit in J&K’s Kathua district were allegedly shot dead by a colleague in an apparent case of fratricidal violence on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) evening.

Preliminary reports suggest that the incident took place around 6:45 pm at a power project near the Himachal border. A head constable from the 2009 batch allegedly had an argument with his colleagues. He then stormed the office and allegedly opened fire with an AK-47, injuring four people. The injured men succumbed to their injuries at the NHPC hospital in Himachal Pradesh.

“The accused head constable has been handed over to the police,” the official said. The CISF is starting an internal investigation into the incident, he added.

The deceased include an assistant commandant, a sub-inspector and two constables.

The police did not disclose the exact circumstances of the murder. Several water projects in J&K are managed by CISF.
