The Canadian male public boasts about the Indian family playing loud Punjabi music on the beach lit an online interview online about noise, culture and two standard.
The man who goes through @Truenorthoper on Instagram and describes himself as a “band for one person”, shared a video criticizing the city of Barrie’s promotion of noise rules. He claimed that the local authorities once prevented him from performing on the beach, and even fined it, but it seemed that other people “blasted any music they wanted”.
In the clip, he stops in front of a picnic table with a speaker playing on Pandjab tracks and sharply notes that the family is not around to enjoy it.
“These people are not here either, but everyone up to 150 feet has to listen to it. Great work, the city of Barrie,” he said in a sarcastic tone.
He also expressed frustration from what he considered unfair treatment.
“I forbid heaven, playing guitar and getting money for Barrie Food Bank- it’s not. But yeah come here, shoot any music you want and let it play while you are in the water.
The video, originally published under the title “The Good, Bad and the ugly reality of the city of Barrie”, reappeared after it was shared by the popular Canadian Instagram page.
The reactions in the comments were divided. Some spectators were adjacent to him and said loud music in public spaces was disturbing, while others accused him of unnecessarily targeting people and urged him to “let others use”.
The user commented: “Just stand up to? Or ask for a slightly lower volume? I don’t understand, is it a new trend to come and cry on the Internet as a fully adult man? CMON.
Another user wrote: “Why do you complain about social media? Go to ask them to refuse it as an adult.”
“Buy a private beach and then a friend,” the third user advised.
“The common courtesy and space for others used to be things.
“I would just close it. Some people don’t know the basic label,” the fifth user wrote.
