A camp elephant brought to Gundlupet taluk as part of a forest department operation to nab a rabid tiger on Friday night, creating tense moments in Gundlupet town.
The elephant was seen running along the main road before entering the KSRTC bus stand. At one point, the motorist abandoned his vehicle and ran to safety as the elephant charged towards him.
According to sources, the elephant started behaving like this after it was stung by a swarm of wasps in the camp.
Forest authorities are trying to bring the situation under control.
