Story so far: On the night of September 26-27, trouble started at Punjab’s Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Phagwara, Kapurthala district, when agitated students went on a rampage inside the campus after an alleged rumor that a female student had been raped in the campus.

According to alleged videos on social media platforms, dozens of protesters, some with their faces covered with handkerchiefs, vandalized property inside the campus, damaged window panes, flower pots and set fire to some items during the night, according to alleged videos on social media platforms.
