A 19-year-old BBA student ended her life on Friday due to alleged molestation by her senior.
Based on a complaint filed by Abdul Nazeer, a civil contractor in Virajpet in Kodagu district, the Bagaluru police registered a case of incitement to suicide against the accused, identified as Refaas, a native of Thrissur, Kerala.
According to the complaint, deceased Sana Parveen was a second year BBA student in a private college and was staying in a rented flat with her girlfriend. Sana complained to her parents about the college student who passed out from the institute, but she continued to harass her. The parents complained to the college faculty, who reportedly summoned Refaas and advised him to stay away. Despite this, the harassment continued, leading her to take the extreme step, Mr Nazeer alleged in his complaint.
Youth found dead in Madiwala hut
In another incident, a 20-year-old boy from Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a lodge room in Madiwala on Friday.
According to the police, the deceased, identified as Thakshith, had checked into the cottage last Thursday and was paying the rent every day. The following Thursday, he notified management that he would be signing off on Friday. Later, hotel staff went to check on him, but the room was locked from the inside. After repeatedly knocking at his door, but without success, it was broken down and he was found dead.
Before transporting the body for autopsy, the police conducted an investigation at the scene. The police have registered a case of suspicious death and are awaiting the post-mortem report for further investigation.
