A 55 -year dispute concerning reserve forest land in the village of Simhachalam Kandriga in Srikalahasti Mandal from the Tirupati district was solved friendly to satisfy all parties involved.
The dispute arose after the locals were issued Pattas in 1970, which, however, was abolished in 1978 by the then district collector. Approximately 98 families were re -released Pattas for 139 acres of forest land in 1998, which forced the forest ministry to mark the objection and seek its abolition.
After the problem reached the High Court in 2014, the judgment was made in favor of the forest department and the disputed land was re -announced as a reserve forest land, but the locals continued to protest.
SRIKALAHASTI MLA was fought by Sudhir Reddy, district collector S. Venkateswar and district forest officer P. Vivek brought all families of the parties to the negotiating table and promised them two acres of land in another place if they agreed to give up their 1.5 acre. They also promised them to assign Pattas for the proposed land.
Mr. Sudhir Reddy suggested that the trees of the Eucalyptus be planted in a range of 100 hectares of forest land, which would bring under the forest growth under the scheme of the forest addition.
They also promised families of alternative place within three months, which the villagers agreed, and thus brought curtains for more than five decades old dispute.
