Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N. Balram inaugurated a 150 kilowatt rooftop on-grid solar power plant at Tekulapally Colony in Yelland on Sunday.
After the inauguration, Mr. Balram asked the engineers about setting up the rooftop solar unit, its capacity and other details. He later laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new library building at Regallapad.
At another event at the company’s headquarters in Kothagudem, the CMD handed over a check for ₹ 1 million as an accident insurance claim to the family members of Mohd. Abdul Azeem who was killed in an accident in Khammam area on February 25. Similarly, he handed over a check for ₹40 lakh to the family members of B. Rajeshwar Rao, who was killed in a train accident on 2 February 2024.
He submitted that the claim was lower against Rajeshwar Rao because the memorandum of agreement effective in 2024 prescribed a lower claim limit. Mr. Balram said that no other state government or any other public sector undertaking in the country has introduced such a huge accident insurance for its workers/employees. As per the current MoU, the workers/employees of SCCL would get a maximum claim of up to ₹1.25 crore to ensure the protection of the affected family.
