The legendary Chennai Super Kings Cricter MS Dhoni confirmed the return of Ruturaj Gaikwad as a franchise captain in the Indian Premier League 2026. On Saturday, August 2, he spoke to a private event in Chennai, Dhoni said that CSK would return to the side and take over his usual duties.
Mrs. Dhoni was forced to take over CSK’s Captaincy of Gaikwad due to his iPL 2025 injury.
Dhoni, when he spoke to the event, admitted team problems from IPL 2025 and said they had strengthened their ranking. The comment may indicate that franchise will move from Rahul Tripathi and Deepak Hood, who were deplorable last season.
“We are slightly worried about our launch order.
“I will not say that we have relaxed (in IPL 2025).
The last competing trip Gaikwada remains 8th April CSK match against Kings in Mullanpur. However, he was appointed in the West Zone team for Duleep Trophy, starting at the end of this month.
Dhoni admitted that Super Kings have been under par in the last two seasons, but he said it was important for the team to identify these gray areas.
“Yes, the last few years haven’t been good for us. We weren’t on the brand. But it is important that you see learning. Yes, you had a bad season. But what went wrong? And that was also a question for us.”
“We were like, well, there are some shortcomings. But first we needed to find out exactly what the shortcomings were and then look at the solution,” he said.
MS Dhoni thanks to faithful fans
Dhoni has greatly thanked the loyal fans of CSK for their entire heart at the time of the dispute and promised to provide a better account in the coming season.
“I feel more often than not, we could figure out exactly what went wrong. In sports you know you can have a very good time and at the same time there will be a period when you won’t work well. In CSK more often than not, we are on the higher side.”
“So we’re talking about processes. But we also want the result to come to our side. Last year (result) wasn’t there. But if we look forward, we’ll try to solve most of the things and hope to be at best,” he described in detail.
The 44-year-old then emphasized a strong relationship that he has supported over the years with Chennai and the IPL team based in the city.
“It is a very long relationship we had, and it started a lot before the IPL started … 2005 was the time I made my debut in the test that happened in Chennai. So it started since. And yes, CSK helped in a big way because I spend 45-50 days suddenly.”
“So I feel that the relationship has grown over the years. It helped me improve as a man. It helped me to improve as a cricket. So CSK just happened.
