Hyderabad: A 24 -year -old man who allegedly harassed IT employees and his female colleague in a public place by filming them without consent and orbiting video on social media, was arrested for accusing the assault and incitement of religious hostility, the police said on Saturday.
The alleged “moral police” incident occurred on NTR Marg 29.
The accused began to record on his mobile phone and challenged a woman that he was with a man of another religion while we were wearing a hijab. He used an abusive tongue, threatened them and physically attacked both individuals and threatened them with terrible consequences, said police representative of the police commissioner to Shilpavalli.
When they fled their bike, the accused was watching them in a intimidating way by filming them with their mobile phone until they arrived in the Himayat Nagar area, Hyderabad’s release.
The video recorded and transmitted by the accused was spread on social media platforms, where it quickly gained extended attention. The preliminary investigation revealed that the video was intentionally shared with the intention of provoking municipal feelings, attacking personal privacy and promoting dividing stories, the police said.
“Let it be clear: no person or group have the power to the moral police, to bother individuals on the basis of their personal decisions or to portray such acts that are justified under any communal or ideological pretext.
Further investigations are underway, including identifying those who manage and promote such social media accounts.
