Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Friday Rajya Sabha that the big head lever led to death at the railway station in Delhi, where 18 people were killed, and 15 were injured.
In a written answer in Rajya Sabha Vaishnaw, he said the large heads falling from one of the passengers launched a new railway station Delhi.
Stampede took place on the leg across the bridge (FOB) and stairs connecting the platform 14/15 at the railway station in Delhi 15 February 2025.
The Minister said: “A high -level committee was established to explore the circumstances leading to this unfortunate incident. Since then, the Committee has submitted its report to assess.”
“On the day of the incident, sufficient protocols for crowd management were introduced to handle the total volume of passengers at the station,” Vaishnaw said.
He added that after 15 February there was a gradual increase in the density of passengers on the leg above the bridge.
“Many passengers carried large puzzles affecting smooth movement on the FOB,” he said.
The Minister of the Railway further informed that a large head was falling from one of the passengers and the pressure was transferred to the stairs of the 14/15 steps platform, “which resulted in burial of passengers on the stairs.”
This led to an incident at 20:48 on FOB-3. The Minister informed the house that 18 people came in the incident and 15 others were injured.
The Vaishnaw statement in Rajya Sabha came in response to the Samajwadi Ramji side Lal Suman. Suman asked the Minister to inform about the status of a report on the committee set up for investigation StamPede and remedial measures of the government.
According to Vaishnaw, ex-Gratia amount £10 lakh on other relatives of each deceased, quantity £2.5 lakh each of the seriously injured and £1 lakh each on the other was paid.
“In accordance with this is the total amount £2.01 Crore was paid 33 victims and their family members, ”Vaishnaw said.
The Minister of Railway said that the government has taken several steps to master the heavy rush of passengers, including the creation of permanent areas of possession and measures to manage access – allowing passengers with confirmed tickets – at 73 identified stations, expanding exaggerated legs, installing CCTV cameras among others.
