The Kerala government managed to bring comprehensive and structural changes in the health care sector, said Secretary of Health Veen George. On Friday, developing projects on the melody of 23.45 GBP in Thrissur Government Medical College Hospital (MCH).
Mrs. George said that the government had made a major improvement and reforms of infrastructure throughout the health sector of the state. She stressed that Thrissur MCH himself witnessed developmental activities exceeding the Crore 680 GBP, including the upcoming super special block and the mother and the child block to expand the built -up area of the hospital from 85,000 square feet to 10 lakh stops.
“Our other big goal is to achieve universal health coverage and ensure available health care for all,” the minister said.
A decrease in the mortality of infants
She acknowledged the key role played by Thrissur MCH to reduce infant mortality in Attappady, one of the most vulnerable tribal regions of Kerala.
In the academic area, the Minister noted that there has been significant progress. The number of BSC nursing seats in government institutions increased from 491 to 1 250.
Increasing the patronage
The Minister pointed out that more people have now turned to government hospitals for treatment. According to the registration of the ambulance, 13.5 patients with Crore sought care from government medical faculties. Also in the bed category, government hospitals also recorded an increase in trust and use. From January to December 2024, 6.5 patients received free of charge within the health insurance system.
“After the establishment of a state health agency, the maximum insurance coverage on the family increased from 30,000 to 5 lakh a year,” she added.
Inaugurated projects
The Minister launched eight completed projects and laid the foundation stone for three new projects. Completed projects include a 128-CT CT scanner set up on CRORE 4.78 GBP; local operating equipment (20 ₹ lakh); HDS laboratory (£ 9.9 lakh); Waste disposal area (20 lakh); Subtorne in the thoracic hospital (39.5 lakh) and operational theater improvements. Endowment blocks were laid for three main projects of 16.56 GBP Crore.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the Alumnni Auditorium Thrissur Medical College. Xavier Chittilappilly, MLA, Chairped. KV Viswanathan, Director (authorized), the Ministry of Medical Education, submitted a report on the project.
In Pazhayannur FHC
The Minister also inaugurated the newly completed laboratory and several medical infrastructure projects in the Pazhayannur family medical center (FHC), developed according to Aardram mission.
Mrs. George said at the event that the state government managed to make health care available and focused on the provision of free therapeutic and quality services across government hospitals and health centers. The event was chaired by ur Pradeep, MLA. The main guest was KJ Reena, director of healthcare services.
