The US official said on Thursday that the differences between US and India cannot be resolved overnight to come to a business agreement. He quoted geopolitical disagreements to support his argument.
“Our challenges with India, it has always been quite a closed market … There are a number of other types of geopolitical questions,” said US official Reuters.
“You saw the President to express concern, you know, membership in Brics, purchases of Russian oil and such a kind,” the clerk added.

While he said there were constructive discussions with India, the clerk said, “These are complex relationships and complex problems, and therefore I do not think things could be resolved with India overnight.”
The clerk’s comments came after Trump said Washington was still negotiating with India after announced that the US would store 25% tariff on goods imported from the country starting Friday.
The number of 25% would choose India more seriously than other major business partners and threatened to reveal months of conversations between the two countries, undermining the strategic partner of Washington and counterweight to China.

India Purchase of Oil from Russia
Trump announced on Wednesday a 25% tariff (plus fine) for Indian exports and said the US had a huge business deficit with India and also criticized India for the purchase of the “large majority” of its military equipment and energy from Russia.
“Remember, while India is our friend, over the years we have done relatively few shops with them, because their tariffs are too high, among the highest in the world, and have the most strenuous and unpleasant non -monetary trading barriers of any country,” Trump said.
“They have always bought the vast majority of their military equipment from Russia and are the largest Russian buyer of energy along with China at a time when everyone wants Russia to stop killing in Ukraine – all things are not good!” He added.
“India will therefore pay a 25 percent tariff plus the sentence for the above, starting on 1 August,” Trump said.
“Indian market to a large extent”
After 25% of the tariff threat to India, the director of the National Economic Council, Kevin Hassett reportedly indicated that Trump was upset about the way the negotiations on the proposed bilateral trade agreement took place.
He said the Indian market was largely closed for American products, while the US was wide for its own.
On Brics
Trump occupied a group of BRICS developing nations – of which India is a key part – as hostile to the US. These nations rejected this accusation and the group said it supports the interests of its members and developing countries in general.
India-Pakistan ‘Hormot’
Trump also attracted Indian criticism by repeatedly acquiring recognition for the indication-Czech “ceasefire”, which he announced on the social media on May 10. The “ceasefire” stopped the days of hostility between nuclear armed Asian neighbors.
The Indian position was that the new Delhi and Islamabad must solve their problems directly without external involvement.
