
Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) sets up a dog monitoring center in northern Bengaluru’s Yelahanka to observe dogs that participate in repeated cases of dog bite.
The BBMP officer explained that the center would function as a community channel where Behaviourist will be deployed. Dogs who show unprovoked aggression will be brought and monitored for several days.
“The behaviourist will train the dog before he releases it back to the same place,” he said, adding that each BBMP zone will keep the dogs involved in repeated incidents.
33 dogs detained
Chandraiah T., a joint director of animal breeding in BBMP, said they captured a total of 33 dogs from the area where an older citizen was killed on Tuesdays on Tuesday. He said they would monitor dogs for another ten days to determine if they were infected with rabies.
“Usually an angry dog dies within ten days. So these dogs will be observed in a laboratory for any behavior changes that require attention,” Mr. Chandraiah Hindu said. “Once the monitoring is over, we release the dogs back to the same place as the instructions,” he added.
According to him, BBMP will turn all dogs before release. If there are no signs of rabies, they evaluate any aggressive behavior and train such dogs before their relaxation.
The BBMP official said he would explore the possible cause of the attack, including whether starvation was a factor.
The BBMP official noted that KEVEGOWDA NAGAR falls under the vidyaranyapura department, which has approximately 943 dogs. He claimed that this particular area has a higher population of dogs and all were vaccinated.
