Padma Shree Award and former President of the Institute of Authorized Accountants in India (ICAI) died on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 in Mumbai.
Who was TN Manoharan?
Manoharan has been a practical authorized accountant for more than thirty years. The government appointed him to the Satyam Computer Services board to protect the interests of depositors and end business.
Manoharan was President of ICAI from 2006 to 2007 and held the positions of the chairmen of his accounting foundation and the National Committee for the Indian Indian Confederation (CII) Confederation Standards.
In 2006–2007 he served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Regulatory and Development Office (Irdai) and in the Committees of India, Securities and Stock Exchange in India, Ministry of Business Affairs, Indian taxes on direct taxes in 2006 and the Central Council.
Manoharan also worked as an inefficient chairman of Canara Bank for five years, from 2015 to 2020. He received the Business Leadership Award Award and was appointed the Indian of the Year in 2009 as part of the Satyam Revival team. In addition, he was honored by the prestigious Civil Award of the India Padma Shri.

Dinesh Wagerah, a member of ICAI, shared details of the demise of Manoharan, wrote about X: “The big loss of CA. is sad to know the news of the sudden and early graduation of our beloved President ICAi, Padma Shri Ca. TN Manoharan, formerly in Mumbai, not only in our point, not only in our production.”
He added: “His wisdom, humility and unwavering integrity inspired by generations of authorized accountants. He was a remarkable ambassador of the profession who has gained respect and admiration around the world.
