The 68 -year -old man was killed in a suspicion of a stray dog attack on Kevegowda Nagar, Kodighelli, Monday hours Monday (July 28, 2025). Since the incident occurred around 3.30 pm when the roads were abandoned and because there is no CCTV camera covering a place, police and civil officials are waiting for an autopsy report to close it as a case of a stray dog attack.
The deceased was identified as a Seetappa of Kodigelli, who earned a living bred cow and milk supply in this area.
On Monday, around 3.30 in the morning, SeetAppa, who was unable to sleep, came out of his house wrapped in a blanket and went for a walk. Less than 200 m from his house was reportedly attacked by a pack of eight to nine stray dogs. He fell and reportedly lay in a pool of blood as the team of the police night patrol arrived. He was moved to the Government Hospital in Yelahance, where he was declared dead.
The son of the deceased, Venkatesh, said Hindu that a woman living on the first floor of the building adjacent to the place where his father was attacked was awakened by his shouts for the help and sound of dogs. “The woman told us she was attacked by a pack of dogs, and she was helpless. She threw the water out the dog’s window to try to save my father. Then some dogs apparently ran away. Later the police took him to the hospital,” he said. “My father was good at night and I did not sleep well at night and often wandered. He was used to go to the nearby shop to have tea around 5.30 in the morning on Monday, came out at 3.30 pm, which we did not realize,” he said.
Surralkar Vikas Kishhor, a special commissioner (animal breeding), Bruhhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, said they were waiting for an autopsy message to confirm whether it was a wandering dog attack. “Meanwhile, we explored the area and picked up 16 stray dogs and kept them supervised to check if any of them had violent behavior. Our coverage of the program of vaccination and control of animal contraception in this area was good,” he said.
Another higher official said that while there was a starvation between the dogs in this area, a man who walked alone, wrapped in a blanket on an abandoned road at 3.30 in the morning, could run one dog so that he could engage on him.
