The Indian coach of Sitanshu Kotak confirmed on Tuesday that Jasprit Bumrah is “fit”, but he said that the final decision to integrate the rapid bowler for the oval test will be taken after the assessment of his workload. The fifth and final test against England, which starts on July 31, will decide on the result of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
When he talked to the media, Kotak said, “There was no discussion on the integration of Jasprit Bumhrah. At the moment, he is fit. On the basis of his workload – only one shift bowed in the last match – head coach, physios and captain and make decisions.”
Bumrah was the most effective pitch of India In series, claiming 14 goals, including two five goals, on average 26.00 and economic rates 3.04. However, its impact gradually decreased. At the opening tests in Lord’s and Headingley, he bowed at a pace and accuracy, regularly exceeding 140 km/h. But in the fourth test in Old Trafford, it appeared under its usual intensity, bowling 28 overs for one goal, with a significant decrease in tempo.
In the pre -planned strategy of working workload, Bumrah was expected to represent only three of the five tests. With the completion of four matches and a quick pitch that bowed in Manchester only one shift, it may be tempted to include it in the final of the series, especially with India, which needs victory to balance the 2-2 series.
On Monday evening, the group traveled to London from Manchester and continued training on Tuesday. While Bumrah is medically fit, it is expected that the decision to play will come to the evaluation of fitness and workload led by medical staff and team management. Chief coach Gautam Gambhir confirmed that all Pacers in the group are currently fit and “high to trust” heading for what he called a “new game”.
“If they feel fully fit and available, it would be a big support for us,” said Vice President SHUBMAN GILL at the BBC trial match.
However, there is a strong reason for caution. With a packaged international calendar forward – including the domestic series against West India – the team can decide to carefully manage Bumhrah’s workload to avoid long -term risks of injury. Pacer could be rested in England Tour, especially if he plays in the upcoming oval test.
Bumrah missed only one match in the series – India won.
