US President Donald Trump said that on Monday (July 28) the United States would set up “food centers” throughout Gaza to deal with deteriorating hungry crisis on the Palestinian territory. During his visit to Scotland, where he met British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump emphasized the urgency of providing assistance to civilians.
“We are going to set up food centers where people can enter – and no boundaries. We will not have fences,” Trump told reporters in the Turnberry golf resort.
“Can’t pretend starvation”
Trump, visibly shifted images from Gaza, described the humanitarian situation as desperate, especially for children.
“I think some of those children – these are real starvation,” he said. “You can’t pretend. Now he has to get food and safety.”
“Israel has a great responsibility … I think Israel can do a lot,” he said. “You have to end it,” he added, referring directly to the ongoing war.
British Starmer calls the situation “absolute disaster”
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer repeated Trump’s sentiments and called the Gaza crisis a humanitarian disaster and criticized the limitation of help supply.
“It’s a humanitarian crisis, is it? It’s an absolute disaster,” Starmer said. “I think people in Britain are rebelled when they see what they see on their screen.”
Downing Street reportedly urged the US to push Israel to allow a greater humanitarian approach, in the middle of what is called “unspeakable suffering and starvation”.
Global pressure mounts on Israel
Britain, France and Germany criticized Israel for limiting basic aid to Gaza. Although the daily pause in military activities was announced between 10:00 and 20:00, which facilitates help, the Agency for Help claims that the answer will not be reached.
The World Food Program program (WFP) said that only 60 trucks were recently able to enter the Gaza Gaza-below a daily goal of 100 debris.
“Sixty is definitely not enough,” said Samer Abdeljaber, regional director of WFP. “Nearly 470,000 people face famine -like conditions. We need something continuous and scalable.”
Trump: “The number one priority is to get people to feed”
Trump insisted that immediate focus must be to make food in need in need, and noted that the US increases financial and material assistance.
“We give a lot of money and a lot of food and other nations now increase. It’s a mess. Right now they have to get food and security,” he said.
