The High Court in Kerala destroyed litigation in the public interest (Pil) submitted in July 2023 by the newly elected Nilamburk Mla Aryadan Shhouth and others, looking for steps to improve the life conditions of people from the tribal communities who lived in the region.
The bench of the chief judge Nitin Jamdar and Justice Basant Balaji said that Mr. Shoukath, who was elected in June, is now better to correct the problems he faced with the tribal. In the saw, Mr. Shoukatath especially mentioned the depressing living conditions of tribal families, many of whom lived in forests in shelters covered with plastic leaves. He also talked about the lack of road connectivity after two bridges were washed away at the flood in 2018.
The court stated that as MLA Shoukath was in a better position to deal with these problems, including the need to build bridges for connecting roads – tasks that should be carried out by local authorities, state government and elected representatives. That was after Mr. Shoukathath’s advisor sought to remove his name from the list of petitioners and withdraw the case.
