The 45 -year -old Gram member Panchayat was reportedly hacked to death by an armed men’s gang over a property dispute on the Kanakapura road under the limits of the Sathanur Police Station.
The incident occurred when the deceased, Nanjesh, was at dinner at the road restaurant with his friends. The attackers threw themselves into the hotel and attacked Nanjesh before they fled from the scene, while his friends and other customers ran Helter-Skelter to save themselves.
According to the police, Nanjesh was resident of the village of Honnagani Doddi and a former member of Achal Gram Panchayat in Kanakapura Taluk.
The police officer said that around 20:30 on Saturday, Nanjesh and his friends were in a restaurant when a group of four or five armed men stopped inside and attacked him with deadly weapons before escaping. Several people rushed to the nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injury.
Police in Sathanur registered the murder case and two of the accused were detained on Sunday. The preliminary investigation revealed that Nanjesh was involved in a quarrel above the property just four days before the murder. The defendants arrested are questioned and further investigations are underway to follow those who are on the run.
