Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) has explained that the installation of intelligent meters is not leading to further burden on energy consumers.
The distraction of extensive misconceptions around the meters discussed about the chairman and CEO of K. Santhosha Rao, said that the installation of intelligent meters is part of the revised system of the Union (RDSS) distribution sector (RDSS).
Rao said: “The electricity regulation Commission Andhra Pradesh (Aperc) approved proposals for installing intelligent meters in the State in February 2021. Intelligent meters are currently installed for government and commercial services within APSPDCL and household consumers.”
He stressed that consumers may not pay any fee at the time of installing intelligent meters and would not be added to monthly electricity accounts.
Mr. Rao emphasized the benefits of introducing the “Smart Meter Consumer App” application and said the application allows consumers to monitor their electricity consumption in real time, to get the chance to regulate the use and reduce their fees for use, in addition to regular warnings.
He suggested that consumers with questions or concerns can clean up their doubts by contacting the free APSPDCL number.
