BJD Corporator of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Amaresh Jena was arrested on Sunday (July 27, 2025) from the Balasore district in connection with the case of rape filed against him in the state capital.
Jena, prominent BJD leader, was booked under BNS 64 (2) (rape), 89 (committing abortion without a woman’s permission), 296 (obscene law) and 352 (criminal intimidation) except Section 6 of the POCSO law.
Given that Jena was not available in her house and in possible places in the city and remained non -communikado, the police created a special group and launched a fall for Fugitive BJD leaders.
“In the end, it was placed in the village below the limit of Berhampur police station in the Nilgiri area in Balasore and detained by a special team,” the policeman said, adding that he was brought to Bhubaneswar.
The leading officer said Jena stayed in the village of Nilgiri, which is close to the forest to escape the jungle if the police raid occurred to detain him. But he could not because the operation was performed very secretly, the officer added.
Immediately after his arrest, BJD issued an office order, stating that: “Amash Jena, corporate, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, he was immediately suspended at Biju Janata.”
BJD President Bhubaneswar Ashok Panda told reporters on Sunday that Jen’s suspension would not affect the party. “No one is indispensable for the BJD. It’s the first party. I repeat that the law will complete its own course.”
He said BJD acted immediately as soon as she was arrested by the police. “The BJD costs its ideology for women. Jena does not harm BJD in any way. It is a huge party with thousands of workers and leaders. He is accused and passes through a legal process,” Mr. Panda said.
On Saturday evening, the police arrested five helpers Jena for accusing his inability. The police said five persons provided transport and helped amrese to avoid arrests.
Five arrested individuals come from different parts of the districts of Khurdy and Jagatsinghpur and after their requests were rejected, they were transferred to judgment, they said.
A 19 -year -old woman in a written complaint at the Laxmisagar police station was accused by BJD of rape, feticide, cheating and intimidation. Jena, while escaping, said the media section that he was “innocent” and “framed” by the ruling BJP.
In his complaint, the survivors claimed that the corporation was sexually used by the promise of marriage when she was 17 years old. She claims that Jena took her to Puri, engaged in physical relations, and in February 2024, when she was still minor, she forced her to interrupt her two -month pregnancy by serving pills.
The estate also claimed that it was threatened and ordered to not reveal anyone.
The police recorded a statement of the survivors and also underwent a medical test.
This week, the Bhubanesware police arrested State President Nsui, to smoke Pradhan, for alleged rape of the engineering student. He was also suspended by the party.
