Prime Minister Narendra Modi took part in the Maldives celebrations on the 60th day of independence along with members of his delegation.
The event was organized on the Republic Square in a man where President Muhammad Muizza and several ministers of the country welcomed Prime Minister Modi as an honorary guest.
PM Modi expresses gratitude
After participating in the event, PM Modi at X said he was “deeply honored” that he was witnessing the celebrations. “Productive conversations with the President Muizza will add significant energy to our bilateral relations,” he read the post.
He also stated in another paper that the relationship between the two countries continues to grow and is formed by ties to people and cooperation in various sectors.
“India is still determined to promote the aspirations of the Maldiv people and cooperate to improve our planet,” he added.
The event of the Independence Day of the Maldiva
Throughout the event, PM Modi was visible next to music. The event was a military parade and cultural performance of children and other artists.
The event was also present at the highest political and military brass Maldiv.
The event was also attended by members of the PM Modi delegation, including the Minister of the External Affairs with Jaishankar and Foreign Minister Vikram Misri, PTI said.
Indian friendly package for the Maldives
Between the two nations were signed several key agreements and memorandum of understanding (Mous) – from India, which undertook the credit line to the Maldives only after the opening negotiations on the free trade agreement between the two countries.
India sang on Friday a memorandum of extension and £4 850 loan for the Maldives and continuing its long -term tradition of support for the South Asian nation’s developmental needs, said the Ministry of External Affairs (Mea).
Foreign Minister Vikram Misri, who dealt with press briefing, said it was the first credit line extended to the Maldives denominated in Indian Rupees and replaced the earlier loan denomination dollar.
The Maldiv President of Muizza also announced the beginning of negotiations on free trade agreement between the two countries during a joint press conference with a man with PM Modi.
Reset relations in India-Maldives
Visiting PM Modi on the island nation is a significant step towards improving the relations between India-Maldives after a short period of tension, when Muhammad Muizza, known for his “pro-Chinese” tendency, came to power in the management of the “India Out” campaign.
He adopted a policy aimed at strengthening relations with China and in a way of reducing addiction to India, Mint reported earlier.

In recent years, however, bilateral ties have been reset through what experts have called pragmatic approach. He visited India in October last year and now PM Modi is on a two -day visit to the Maldives.
“The Maldives will not do anything to harm Indian security interests. We appreciate the roles of India as a nearby neighbor and friend,” the president of Muizza said during his visit, marking a sharp move away from his earlier “India” campaign.
