Police arrested a suspicious drug punch that fled from the coercive team on Friday (July 25) and allegedly jumped into the gorge near the ninth hairpin of the Thamarassery bend.
The accused, Shafeeq, a native of Malappuram district, was detained on Saturday 26th July from the morning from Vykiri, where he allegedly hid in the forest space. According to police sources, the inhabitants were the first to see Escapee and transferred information to the nearest police station.
Shafeeq was found in a exhausted state with multiple injuries and was moved to the government hospital in Vykiri. Police sources said the injury was small.
There was an intensive search operation through a forest with the support of a team of fire and rescue services. Higher officers from Thamarassery and Vykiri police stations also took part in operations overnight.
“During the surprising inspection near the ninth hairpin curve, we recovered 16 grams of MDMA from his vehicle. Once the vehicle was captured, it fled from the scene and jumped into the gorge,” said police officer of anti-baroty. The officer also stated that Shafeeq was previously arrested in a similar case of drug smuggling in Sultan Bathery.
