
On Saturday, Ekta Kapoor issued a statement after the Center for the Altt Obscene Videos Online Videos, saying it is not associated with the organization.
In a lengthy statement, Ekta Kapoor explained that while operating Balaji Telefims, in June 2021 she retired from her role in Altt.

The producer of the film said Balaji Telefilms has been operating Altt since June 20, 2025 and after his merger with ALT Digital Media Entertainment Ltd., which was formerly a completely owned subsidiary.
“Balaji Telefilms Limited, listed on BSE and NSE, is a professionally operated media organization and, after the recent merger of ALT Digital Media Entertainment Ltd. (formerly owned subsidiary) duly approved by Hon’ble Nclt,” she said.
Media denial reports that her name linked her name with the forbidden OTT platform, Kapoor said it was “not connected in any capacity ” with Altt since June 2021.

“Balaji Telefilms Limited is fully in line with all applicable laws and continues to operate its business with the highest standards of administration and management standards,” he added.
Why Ban Ulla, Altt, more OTT platforms?
In his announcement of 23 July, the center noted that these 25 applications and websites violated the right to display the content that is prohibited, and at the same time evokes an indecent representation of the Women Act (Prohibition) of 1986, Section 67 IT Act and Section 292 IPC.
MIB justified the ban and stated that the content on these platforms OTT had sexual allusions and, in some cases, “long parts of sexually explicit scenes involving nudity, which are pornographic in nature”.
