When DK Shivakumar arrived at Vidhana Soudha after taking oath as the Chief Minister, he bowed at the steps of the stone building that houses the State Secretariat before entering.
In an act reminiscent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi bowing before entering Parliament, Mr. Shivakumar touched his forehead to the steps at the northern entrance of Vidhana Soudha.
After entering the Chief Minister’s office on the third floor of the Vidhana Soudha, he bowed to the Chief Minister’s chair amid Vedic chants by priests before sitting on it. He then signed the file accepting the charges and later presided over the first cabinet meeting of his government.
Earlier, as soon as he entered the Vidhana Soudha premises, he paid floral tributes to the statues of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Jagajyoti Basavanna, Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, the country’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi.
