Hassan and Chikkamagalur District Administration announced a holiday for schools on Saturday after warning about heavy rains.
Hassan deputy Commissioner KS Lathakumari announced a holiday for Anganwadis, elementary schools and secondary schools in Sakleshpur and Belur Taluks.
Similarly, on Saturday on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner Chikkamagalur Khandya Hoblis from Chikkamagalur Taluk.
Both commissioners’ representatives ordered schools to lead special classes on weekends or holidays to compensate for the loss of school days.
The Indian Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for the districts of Hassan, Chikkamagalur and Shivamogg for the next two days.
Many parts of these districts received mild to heavy rains in 24 hours, which ended on Friday at 8:30.
Shivamogga recorded an average of 40 mm compared to a normal 22 mm per day. The highest of 114 mm was recorded in Sulagod in Hosanagar Taluk.
Chikkagagagalaruru recorded an average of 26 mm rain compared to normal
The village of Begar in Sringeri Taluk received the highest precipitation of 100 mm in 24 hours. Hassan received an average of 17 mm compared to normal 8 mm. Hongadahall in Sakleshpur Taluk recorded the highest 177 mm.
At the Chikkamagalur review meeting, she said that Mrs. Meena Nagaraj said that up to 1,273 electricity poles and Mescom suffered a loss of 2,17 GBP due to heavy rains in the district since 1 June. The work to replace the damaged poles took place.
A total of 11.49 km of state motorways was damaged, resulting in a loss of CRORE 6.15 GBP. Up to 38 houses were damaged and nine collapsed completely.
