Cortege took more than 22 hours to cover a distance of about 150 km from Thiruvananthapuram to the pavur, as thousands lined the way to pay their last respect.
When the vehicle arrived in Velkákath, his house in the pavuro, he was welcomed by the emotional shouts of “Kanne Karale v.se” from party workers and supporters. In the middle of the sea mourning, his body was finely exported from the bus and took the house, which meant his last return home.
After a short pause inside the house, deadly remains were exported and placed in the courtyard, allowing the public to offer their final honors. This was followed by the moving manifestations of love and respect for the leader who devoted his life to people.
Thousands gathered, many came already on Tuesday evening, some travel from the distant corners of the state and even off it to say goodbye. The queue of the mourning waiting patiently waited for a respect stretched over two kilometers and carried a silent testimony with a deep emotional bond of Achuthanandan shared with the masses that had served for decades.
“I saw many leaders coming and leaving, but no one was like VS that he was one of us – simple, honest and fearless. Today, when his body entered this journey for the last time, it seemed as if a family member was returning home,” said Ramakrishnan K., Kuttanad.
