
Panic broke out in Marandeya Nagar during the early Tuesday hours after the man, allegedly intoxicated, continued with violent rampage, damaged and lit several vehicles in this area.
The incident was reported around 3:45 pm, when the accused, identified as Anjan Goud, at the age of 45, under the influence of alcohol, he targeted several parked vehicles in the neighborhood.
According to the police, seven two-wheelers, two cars and auto-rikša were damaged. While some vehicles were vandalized by stones, others were ignited.
Inspector Jeedimetla G. Mallesh said that Goud, alcoholic, fights financial need and is heavily burdened with loans. “To avoid repayment, he pretended to be mentally unstable for the creditors to stop chasing him,” the inspector said.
Based on complaints filed by vehicles, two separate cases were registered.
Jeedimetla Police took Gouda to custody while he was still in a heavily intoxicated state. It is expected that it will be made in court on Wednesday.
