SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava on Wednesday commissioned two new section management boards at the Secunderabad Divisional Controller’s Office, taking the total number to eight. The addition follows the expansion of the division’s jurisdiction to include the Wadi-Raichur section (from Guntakal) and the Pagidipalli-Vishnupuram-Janpahad section (from Guntur) following the creation of the new South Coast Railway (ScoR).
At the same time, Motumari-Kondapalli section of Secunderabad division was merged with Vijayawada division. The new dashboards are expected to enhance movement monitoring of passenger, express and freight trains in the newly integrated sections and ensure smooth operation of trains, he said during his inspection.
He reviewed the operational measures in place to monitor the movement of trains in the added sections and assessed the readiness to effectively handle the expanded jurisdiction. He stressed the need for close coordination and continuous monitoring to ensure safe, efficient and accurate train operation across the network. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) R. Gopalakrishnan and other officials were present, a press release said.
Railway Union seeks flexible staffing options
Meanwhile, the South Central Railway Employees Sangh, the South Coast Railway Employees Sangh and the National Federation of Indian Railways (NFIR) have urged the General Managers concerned to ensure that all employees who wish to relocate are immediately released to join the new zone while allowing those in the SCR who wish to remain there to continue.
In a press release, NFIR General Secretary M. Raghaviah also called for extending similar facilities to employees who want to work in Visakhapatnam, especially those of Telugu origin, in light of the creation of the new Rayagada Division under the East Coast Railway. Licensed officials should be allowed to remain in their respective zones for the time being.
Vacancies in the SCoR may instead be filled by officers who have requested transfer to a new zone. He emphasized that for at least one year, staffing decisions should be taken jointly by the CEOs concerned in consultation with the unions to ensure a smooth and orderly transition.
