In an effort to alleviate traffic jams and ensure smoother commuting, Bengaluru traffic police (BTP) took a strict attitude against societies responsible for civic works that are either delayed or abandoned in the middle. BTP will issue notifications to civic suppliers and service providers and order them to be within one week or face legal measures to complete the long -standing road work.
Karthik Reddy, a joint police commissioner, who soon took over the traffic situation, told the media that incomplete or extended civic works – from digging the road to drainage, cable laying, for repairs of public services – became the main cause of traffic bells across key intersections and arterial roads in the city.
“We have issued a notice to companies who have accepted civil work after obtaining a proper permission from the department of transport or other civil ages and did not complete the work,” Mr. Reddy told the media. These companies were announced to complete the work within one week, when legal steps will be launched against it. He also stated that the transport department would also recommend the Civic Agencies of the Blacklist of such a company for their unduly delay in the completion of work and cause traffic problems in the city.
Despite repeated requirements and reminders, several suppliers failed to restore the roads and commuting commuting navigating through narrow places, dust and uneven surfaces that forced us to take this step, said a police officer from the East Division.
This step came as a relief for road users, especially with monsoon rains, which worsens the situation. The police also urged civil ages such as BBMP and BWSSB to better coordinate and avoid overlapping work that further increases the delay.
Since the density of transport is shrinking and decreasing in civil work, they hope that this action will cause this action to evoke a faster project performance and eventually provide a certain respiratory space for the suffocated roads in the city.
40 points of choke
In addition, the ministry also identified 40 points in the city, most of them in the eastern division. One such example is the section between the intersection of Silk Board to Kr Puram, which comes with several IT companies along a circular road.
The city has 1.2 crore vehicles registered for a population of 1.4 Crore, where traffic management is a demanding task, said the leading police officer.
The traffic police also focuses on random parking of vehicles on roads that blocks the smooth movement of vehicles. The traffic police in jurisdiction were ordered to take a serious parking problem and take the necessary measures.
The BBMP agreed to provide 10 towing vehicles together with the drivers. The traffic police force a strictly traffic violation and even BBMP can take steps under the BBMP law for towing vehicles and force road discipline, he added.
