
Indian coal imports in 2024-25 fell by almost 8% to 243.62 million tonnes, which led to foreign exchange savings over more £60 681.67 Crore, said G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of Union for coal and mines, Monday.
In a written answer to the question in Rajya Sabha, the Minister noted that imports amounted to 264.53 million tons in 2023-24.

The state operation of Coal India LTD (CIL) has taken a number of measures to increase coal production, including the adoption of new and modern technologies such as mass production technologies (MPT), with the deployment of continuous miners, long walls and upper walls where possible, said digital transformation was implemented in the APILOT scale.
