The government said on Monday that more than 80% of rural households in the country have drinking water.
“Today, July 16, from 193.6 million rural households in the country, is mentioned more than 156.7 crore (80.93%) of households in their homes,” said Minister Jal Shakti V. Somann in the written response of Rajya Sabha.
Since August 2019, the Center, in cooperation with States, has been implementing the Jal Jeevan (JM) Mission: Har Ghar Jal to allow every country household to provide drinking water through connection to water water.
At the beginning of the mission, it was reported that approximately 32.3 million (16.7%) of rural households have a connection of water water. So far, as states and territories of the Union, up to 16 July, have been provided to water water with approximately 124.3 million other rural households.

In order to ensure the successful implementation of the mission, the Center regularly examined the implementation with the relevant state governments.
