“With the extinction of Vs Achuthanandan, CPI (m) lost a leader with a big figure,” said former spokesman of the legislative assembly Therambil Ramakrishnan in Kerala. When Mr. Ramakrishhnan thought about the legacy of a veteran politician, he noted that the VS was a person who could never be overlooked in the Keral Political Landscape, thanks to his unwavering positions and principles.
“Although we had political differences, the VS was a leader who had never allowed personal bitterness or anger to conceal his interactions,” he said, recalling the unique oratorial style of the former main minister in and outside the assembly. “As a colleague of the legislature, I often admired how his speeches were deeply associated with an ordinary man.”
During his work as a speaker, Mr. Ramakrishnan had the opportunity to work closely with the VS, who was then the leader of the opposition. “Many memories come to mind. As a leader of the opposition, he publicly acknowledged my impartiality as a speaker several times. I find that one of the highest recognition I’ve ever received,” he added.
“Its passage means the end of the era, a strong link to the earlier generation of political leaders. I will fold with respect to the bright memory of the real statwart,” said Mr. Ramakrishnan.
