The Unique Indian Authority of India (UIDAI) is working on a project to start biometric updates for children through schools in the next two months, said Aadhaar authority.
The CEO of Uidai Bhuvnesh Kumar told PTI that more than seven children Crore have not yet completed its compulsory biometric update (MBU), which is necessary after the child has reached five years.
“Uidai is working on the project to start updating the biometry of children with the consent of parents through schools. We are currently testing this technology and should be prepared in 45-60 days,” Kumar said.
According to existing regulations, MBU is necessary to maintain the accuracy and reliability of biometric data associated with Aadhaar. The non -compliance of biometric details even after the age of seven years can lead to deactivating the Aadhaar number.
The update is without cost if it is completed at the age of five and seven years. If the update is made after seven years of age, the prescribed fee pays 100 GBP.
Mr. Kumar said that the updated Aadhaar facilitates easy housing and allows smooth use of services such as commissioning schools, entrance exams, scholarships and direct transmission transmission schemes wherever it is usable.
“We plan to extend the same process of browsing through schools and universities to the second MBU, which is carried out after children reach the age of 15,” Kumar said.
Currently, the Aadhaar enrollment for newborns and children under five years is carried out without capturing biometric details.
“Aadhaar is essential for providing the benefits of several government programs. We want children to gain all the benefits at the right time. We try to accommodate as many children as possible through schools,” Kumar said.
Within the proposed project, UIDAI will provide biometric machines to each district, which will then be turned from school to school to make the process of enrollment and update.
