Congress Rajya Sabha Randeep Singh Surjewala (July 20, 2025) called Chief Minister Haryany Nayab Singh Saini, who also holds a domestic portfolio, “complete failure” and demanded to resign and claimed that “organized crime is the largest industry today”.
Surjewala, who dealt with a press conference in Chandigarh about the prevailing situation and order, claimed that the ruling party of Bharatiya Janata (BJP) became Haryana, the country of Bhagavad Gita, to the “Wassepur” Ganges, and “Ransom” rather than Ransom, and ranosis “rather than Ransom Ransom “than is that it is that the state.
Mr. Surjewala claimed that this crime could not flourish without political sponsorship and said that the police were working on the command of political leadership. Those in power, as claimed, were either “weak”, “worthless” and “incompetent” rule or offered shelter to criminal elements. “In both cases, they should end,” he said.
Former Minister Haryana, who quoted official data, claimed that the deteriorating situation of the law and order reflected not only in the headlines of newspapers, but also in official statistics. “According to the National Records Records, three people are murdered and five sexual offenses are committed daily in Haryana. In 2024, 966 people were murdered and 16,743 crimes were committed against women, which means that 46 women were victims of these crimes every day.
Mr. Surjewala also said that during the meeting of seven CEOs of the police this year, the state government admitted that 80 criminal gangs were active in Haryana – including Lawrence, Bhau, Kaushal Chaudhary, Goldy Brar, Ran and Vikas Gulia (Dubai).
Mr. Surjewala blamed part of the unemployment situation and said that police officials said these gangs that operate from India and countries such as Dubai, Canada and Australia, accepting unemployed youth by offering amounts between 5,000 and 20,000 ₹.
Mr. Surjewala, who is also the Secretary General of the All India Congress Committee, said the report based on press releases from nine districts indicated a “dangerous trend”. According to him, Faridabad recorded 41 murders this year, followed by 38 in Jind and Grrabram, 25 in Panipat, 21 in Kaithal, 20 in Karnal, 18 in Kurukshetra, 15 in Yamunanagar and 11 in Sirse. “It was a similar situation during the Indian National Government Lok in 2005 and now even worse,” he said.
By comparing the situation with the previous Congress government, Mr. Surjewala said that before 2014, the subtitles concerned sporting achievements, growing investments in the national capital region and the performance of Haryana in development indices. “After BJP created a government under Manohar Lal, the subtitles turned into reports on paper escape, corruption in employment and atrocities on farmers. Under Nayab Saini we are now reading about drugs and sand mafia, unrestrained bureaucracy and criminal blackmail,” he said.
President Haryan Bjp Mohan Lal Badoli, who responded to the accusation, said the police had taken strict steps against criminals and the arrest process was accelerated. He added that the measure would soon be taken against those who issue threats from abroad.
