Police Cyberabad was arrested nine individuals for the operation of a false call center from a rented villa in Bachupally, aimed at unsuspecting victims in India and the United States under the guise of customer support from renowned financial platforms including PayPal, Geek Squad and other credit card companies. The operation was discovered by the Medchal Special Operation Team (SOT) and CyberCrimed shelf after news entries.
The arrest of the accused, all natives of Kolkata, West Bengal, were identified as Danish Alam, MD. Saheb ali alias Son, MD. Fahad Pervez, MD. Aman Alam, MD. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Mohammed Mohsin, Farid Hussain, MD. Shadhab Alam. They moved to Cyberabad with a promise of high salaries, commissions and free accommodation. Several other suspects involved in the operation remain escape and efforts to monitor them.
The investigation revealed that the gang operated a full-fledged illegal call center and accepted the VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) from victims using applications such as Zoiper, X-Lite and Microsoft teams, which were triggered via phishing e-mails.
These e -Maly pretended to be the main platforms such as PayPal, Geek Squad and Services Credit Card Services, falsely warning recipients of unauthorized transactions. When the victims answered, the accusation that was trained to speak smoothly in English using scripted dialogues, convinced them to install remote access tools like AnyDesk. Once they got into the victims’ systems, they received sensitive data including bank data, transactions and passwords.
Victims, many of whom were seniors and women, were threatened by false criminal charges such as drug trafficking or personal photographs if they refused to cooperate. In some cases, fraudsters pretended to be police officers or court authorities to create a panic and extract money.
The gang also used false banking applications, spoofed e -maily and social engineering tactics for fraud. Police received 22 mobile phones, 10 notebooks, more headset and complete setting of calling calling ox. Furthermore, it was revealed that the gang recently moved from another villa in the SVA Aparna, Bachupally, after increasing the suspicion among the population.
The case was registered on the basis of the relevant provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit and the Act on Information Technology of 2008. The police are in the process of identifying other victims, obtaining cheated funds and removing digital infrastructure by the group.
In the field of computer crime, the police recommended the public not to respond to suspicious e -maly or calls that claim to come from customer service teams. Verification should always be made through official sources and any suspicion of computer fraud should be immediately reported by dialing in 1930 or by contacting the nearest police station for computer crime.
