Amy Jones and Sophie Ecclestone were the stars of the show when England beat India x with a goal to equalize the 1-1 series. Ecclestone raised three goals for 27 in its hexagon spell to limit India to 143/8 in 29 overs because the match was hit by rain at the beginning. Jones and Tammy Beaumont, who needed 144 runs, built a chase with the first rack before the rain played Coipsort again.
In the end, the goal was revised at 115 out of 24 breaks and Sophia Dunkley and Jones ensured that the victory was sealed by the former hit hit. India came to the competition on the back of a sensational victory over the hosts in the first ODI, where they played Deepti Sharma. But both teams were forced to wait inside, because there was heavy rain around the stadium and the covers were fastened. The fans appeared in good numbers, but they all had to wait four hours for the game to run.
ENG-W VS Ind-W 2. Odi Veliky
England won throwing and put India in a bat and the decision turned out to be a masterpiece. Pratika Rawal, who faced some disciplinary action after her running with English players in the first match, did not stay too long and Em Arlott was cleaned.
Mandhan, which was the best Indian dough on the day, looked firm during her knocking at 42 out of 51 balls, but couldn’t get support from the other end.
India doughs looked in a hurry
As soon as Harleen Deol appeared, she and Mandhan slowly established things with a 40-run stand before Ecclestone got to the forefront. The spinner of the left shoulder rejected Harleen and this kind opened the floods for England.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (7), Jemimah Rodrigues (3) and Rich Ghosh (2) seemed to be in a hurry to ante and unhappily failed when India dropped to 72 in five. Mandhana seemed to lead a lonely battle and finally got help from Deepti and the duo added 26 runs.
But the goal of Mandhan, however, again committed to India when she was on Deepti to perform a rescue act. She received support from Arundhati Reddy and Duo ensured that India was a good goal at the end.
Deepti’s portrait 30 ensured that they got 143 runs in 29 overs.
Indian bowling lacks bites
Indian pitch and fields seemed to miss some bites on Saturday because they couldn’t stop running. While the playground offered some grip and rotation, Indian spirites were not able to have the same effect as their English counterparts.
This allowed Beaumont and Jones to get to flight as he chased the target down. Especially Beaumont seemed to be fine when she played her shots to face the Indian attack. The duo added 54 out of 62 balls before Sneh Rana brought India back to the competition.
This momentum, however, quickly ended Jones, who scored 46 out of 57 balls and got a few boundaries before the rain came, to sweat with 18.2 overses bowled. Time was not a friend of the hosts when the rain continued and before the game could be considered a complete game, eight balls needed.
Fortunately for England, the rain was sticky and they were able to finish the work, even though they lost the captain of NAT Sciver-Brunt just after the game was restarted. The decision will now be played on Tuesday, July 22 in Durham.
