Harbhajan Singh feels that India should explore the possibility of division of coaching for cricket red and white balls. Gautam Gambhir, who took over as an Indian coach after the T20 2024 World Cup, recorded great results in ODIS and T20i. Gambhir supervised the Indian triumph in the Champions Trophy trophy, while the team has so far lost the series during its shortest game format.
Gambhir has 13 victories and two losses as a T20is coach with a series of victories over Sri Lanka, South Africa, Bangladesh and England. In ODI has a record of 8 wins, two losses and one tie out of 11 matches. But if he comes to cricket red ball, his record was not great.
After defeating Bangladesh, India was whitewashed in New Zealand before losing the Border-Gavascar trophy 1-3 to Australia down. Currently, they follow the series against England 1-2 before the Manchester test, which begins 23 July. This means that India has only won 4 out of 13 tests under GambhirIt loses 8 of them and draws one.
In an interview with India today Harbhajan suggested that the use of various coaches in cricket with a red ball and a white ball is not wrong because players and teams are different. The former Spinner said that the possibility would reduce the workload for all, including coaches.
“I feel that if it is implemented, there is nothing wrong with it. You have different teams and different players for the formats. If we can, it is a good choice. It will reduce the workload for all, including coaches.
“Coach also needs time to prepare”
Harbhajan said that the coach also needs time to prepare for the series, whatever the format. The former Spinner said it would not be good if one coach is redesigned throughout the year.
“Because your coach also needs time to prepare for a series. Like five tests against Australia, then in England, then elsewhere. So the coach can prepare and determine what his team should be.
“If you reworking one trainer throughout the year, he also has family and duties. Traveling with family is not easy. So yes, if you ask me, the division of coaching with a red ball and a white ball is a good step,” Harbhajan said.
In its history, India has never used a divided coaching policy with VVS Laxman lately after big tours.
