The University of Ravenshaw, Cuttack, canceled the order that banned students, faculty members and non -pedagot staff remaining on the academic land after 17:30
The order that received the will and extensive convicts was taken within a few hours of the release, allegedly after the intervention of the state Ministry of Higher Education.
As a result of public outrage last week, the controversial directive came confidence and subsequent death by Fakir Mohan College in Balasore, reportedly in protest against sexual harassment by a teacher of the same university.
Although the order of Ravenshaw University was not directly linked to the Balasore College incident, its timing brought immediate public inspections.
The notification issued by the registrar after a high -level meeting said that no students or employees would be allowed on the campus or at any workplace after 17:30 until the formal standard operational procedure (SOP) is framed to ensure safety and working hours. The meeting decided that there would be no women’s office work and research scientists in the evening.
The announcement met with the harsh criticism of students, civil society and advocates of women’s rights who called it “regressive” and “discriminatory”. The maximum resistance came from the hostels of women, which is located in the area.
In response to the will, the university published public clarification and stated that the order was incorrectly interpreted and was therefore withdrawn. Officials confirmed that a new SOP will soon be issued, but its expected provisions are not processed. From now on, normal access to the campus has been restored for all students and employees.
