BMRCL employees’ Association raised objections to the recent transfer of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to Outsourcing of Key Operational Role, including trains operators, trains and train managers, for the upcoming range-5 and range II lines.
Suristic, surnistics, surnistics, Sureanarayan Murty, Vice -President of the Union, said BMRCL had an offer to enter into contracts for private companies for the operation of metro train services on these sections and compositions. “This is a government company and such critical contributions should not be handed over to private players. We will be against this step,” he said.
Mr. Murty warned that outsourcing of such basic roles would directly affect BMRCL employees, especially in terms of career procedure and job security. “Although BMRCL said that selected candidates would be trained, it would still dilute the importance of their own staff,” he added.
However, the head of BMRCL official explained that outsourcing the decision was taken primarily to solve the current lack of trained employees and ensured that services on new metro lines could start in time. “Metros Chennai and Hyderabad accepted similar outsourcing models that help reduce operating costs while maintaining efficiency,” the clerk said.
The official added that this step is a temporary measure aimed at fulfilling the operating terms and that regular recruitment for permanent employees will continue according to the plan.
