“Humanity has turned into a society that uses nature every other moment,” said the actor and chairman of the Chalachitra State Chalachitra Premumar. On Friday he spoke after the second edition of Rith, the International Environmental Film Festival at St. Joseph’s College, Irinjalakuda.
He stressed that he emphasized irreversible environmental damage caused by modern lifestyle, and stressed that people now live in direct contradiction with the rhythm of nature. “We have lost all the sense of seasonal balance. Every art form has the power to trigger a transformation in the human mind. The cinema is not just fun, its real mission is fulfilled when it becomes a tool for social reform,” he said,
The ceremonial inauguration was chaired by C. Blessy, director of the university and the chairman of the festival.
The festival was opened with Kaadar, Kaadar, Onal, a distinctive documentary of the filmmaker based in Chennai Aravind Mohanraj and examined the deep -rooted connection between the tribal community of Kadar Athirappilly and Hornbills.
Within two days, the festival examines 13 films that evoke ideas in multiple languages, each dealing with different dimensions of environmental crises and environmental resistance. The event is organized together by Thrissur Chalachitra Kendram, Irinjalakuda Film Society and Induchoodan Foundation.
Thrissur Chalachitra Kendram Chairman Cherian Joseph, Irinjalakuda Film Society Patron PK Bharathan, Director of the Festival, took part in an inauguration meeting.
