ACME Solar Holdings, through its entirely owned subsidiaries, signed agreements to buy energy from batteries (Bespa) with NHPC Ltd. To set two separate energy storage projects in Andhra Pradesh with a total capacity of 275 MW/550 MWh.
The projects were awarded through the e-Reverse auction, which took place at the end of last month for 2 10 000 GBP tariffs per MW per month for 50 MW/100 MWh and 2,22,000 GBP per MW per month for 225 MW/450 MWh. The projects will be carried out within the financing system of the viability gap (VGF) of the India Government, which provides financial support for 27 lakh per MWh or up to 30% of the total project costs, depending on what is lower.
They are expected to be listed within 18 months of signing, Bess projects will help stabilize the grid by storing energy during an off -top hour and discharging during top demand. It is also expected that it will strengthen the integration of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, which are inherently occasional.
This initiative is an important step in the Indian Energy Transition and represents the pioneering model “Bess-As-A-Service”, where the charges for capacity are due for storage services and set a new scale for future deposit in the country.
