The state government has taken steps to start a separate free residential school in Bengaluru for children affected by cancer.
During the international session in the Hindu office here on Thursday, Minister of School Education Madhu Bangappa said it was the first residential school in the country, especially for these children.
“Approximately 3.5 acres of soil have already been identified for a school near the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology and the land transfer process is underway. Here, school, hospital and parents will be provided under one roof.
“There are about 3,500 children suffering from cancer throughout the state, and if the disease is detected early, it can be completely cured. Children who come from external districts and rural areas for cancer treatment do not have the right equipment.
“Since children lose their hair during treatment, they feel unpleasantly visiting classes. Therefore, if they are entered in a residential school, they can stay with their parents until they are cured. Teachers will be named by non -governmental organizations and doctors, nurses and medical staff will be appointed to treat for treatment.
