US President Donald Trump has recently undergone medical testing after the swollen legs and bruises were visible on his hand, the print secretary of the White House Karoline Leitt Son on Thursday (July 17).
Leitt said that the president reported “a slight swelling in his lower legs”, which led the White House medical team to perform a complete evaluation.
Diagnosis: A common condition
Doctors diagnosed Trump with chronic venous insufficiency, which is a condition marked with insufficient blood flow in the leg veins, leading to blood and swelling.
“The president has undergone a comprehensive examination, including diagnostic vascular studies,” Leavitt said. “The bilateral lower limb of intravenous doppler ultrasound has been made and revealed chronic venous insufficiency, benign and common condition, especially in individuals over 70 years of age.”
Excluded other conditions
Leavitt assured the public that there was no hint of more serious health problems.
“There was no evidence of deep thrombosis or arterial disease,” she noted. “The echocardiogram showed a normal heart structure and function … All test results were within normal limits.”
Hand bruises attributed to routine activities
Leavitt, who addressed the viral images of bruises on the back of Trump’s hand, attributed the marks to regular activities.
“Small soft tissue irritation from frequent handsharing and aspirin’s use” was a likely cause, she said.
“President remains in excellent health”
Despite concerns online, Leavitt stressed that Trump has no pain and continues his daily activities without problems.
“No. No President’s discomfort at all. And you probably all see it every day. She works continuously,” she said.
She added: “The President remains in excellent health.”
The physical test records to be published
Leitt said that a full letter from the president’s doctor would be published early and would provide all relevant medical data.
In April, Trump had undergone his annual physical period at Walter Reed National Medical Center, while the doctor declared him “in excellent health” at that time.
